The work Keheewin means " Eagle" in the Cree language. About This Community
The southwest Edmonton community of Keheewin is conveniently bordered by 111 St to the west, Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard to its east, and 23rd Ave to its north, giving the community ample accessibility to places in the city such as Whyte Ave and the University of Alberta area. The name Keheewin is Cree for “eagle.” The majority of homes in this southwest neighbourhood were built in the 1980’s, which accounts for the wide and open streets, larger backyards, as well as the unique style of homes typical for that time.

Across 23rd Ave from the community of Keheewin is Century Park. Not only is this the location of the Century Park LRT and Transit Station and the Park and Ride, but also a commercial area where one can access restaurants like Brewsters, Starbucks, Spring Roll Kitchen, and Bistecca Italian Steakhouse & Winebar. There is also a Liquor Depot, TD Canada Trust, Rexall, Century Park Dental, Safeway, Spa Lady, and a medical imaging clinic.
Along the northern border of the community, Heritage Village is the first among a row of commercial hubs. This commercial row includes Heritage Square, Heritage Links and Heritage Lane. Taking 23rd Ave NW west will take residents of Keheewin straight to Yellowbird Centre, a little corner of restaurants and amenities such as: Sicilian Pasta Kitchen, Vinny’s Bar, Pizza Hut, HairOpolis, Sham-Pooches, Kunitz Shoes, Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, Taps For Effect Games, and Kumon Math & Reading Centre, just to name a few.
Following 23rd Ave in the opposite direction will take residents of Greenfield to both Calgary Trail South, a huge corridor of shopping and restaurants that stretches all the way to Whyte Avenue (82nd Ave NW), as well as South Edmonton Common, one of the largest open-air retail complexes of shopping, dining, and entertainment in North America.

Calgary Trail South and 111 St NW border the neighbourhood of Keheewin to the east and west, both of which will take residents to either Anthony Henday or Whitemud Drive. The northern edge of Keheewin is bordered by 23rd Ave NW.
