Summerside gets its name from a community in Prince Edward Island called Summerside. The developers wanted to create a similar experience and created Lake Summerside to give the community a marine element.

Walker and Summerside Amenities
Walker, Edmonton is ripe with amenities. You’ll find everything you need including access to stores, schools, and services. Throughout the neighbourhood, you’ll be able to walk to local convenience stores, and schools. Harvest Pointe Shopping Centre is only a few minutes away and is complete with grocery and retail stores, as well as dining, and more.
Summerside is home to Edmonton’s largest man-made lake, Lake Summerside. Lake Summerside is perfect with a sandy beach, dock, parks and community recreation centre. In addition to the recreation centre at Summerside, you’ll also be close to The Meadows Recreation Centre, one of the newest facilities for families.
The South Edmonton Common is home to many retailers, outlet stores, and restaurants. Further to the west is Ellerslie Industrial which is where many residents are employed. You’ll never be far from what you need when you live in Walker or Summerside.
One of the most notable commuter routes is the Anthony Henday Drive. This 78 km freeway creates the border around the entire city of Edmonton and is a popular commuter and truck bypass route.
