About This Community


Situated conveniently close to Century Park LRT and Transit Centre and Calgary Trail South is the beautiful community of Steinhauer, named after Henry Bird Steinhauer, a missionary of Chippewa decent who assisted in inventing and perfecting the Cree symbolic characters. The neighbourhood is made up of mainly single-family homes built between 1970 and 1990, accounting for its more established feel.

On the southern edge of the community of Steinhauer is the conveniently located Ermineskin shopping centre, a small complex that includes services such as Rainbow Car Wash, a license bureau, Ermineskin Veterinary Clinic, Century Park Driving School, a Snickerdoodle convenience store, and a Laundromat. For local dining and entertainment there is a Domino’s Pizza, Evolution Golf, and Goodfellows Pub, and for shopping there is the Serengeti Outlet and the Ermineskin Centre Liquor Store.


Just outside the southwestern edge of Steinhauer is Century Park. Not only is this the location of the Century Park LRT and Transit Station and the Park and Ride, but also a commercial area where one can access restaurants like Brewsters, Starbucks, Spring Roll Kitchen, and Bistecca Italian Steakhouse & Winebar. There is also a Liquor Depot, TD Canada Trust, Rexall, Century Park Dental, Safeway, Spa Lady, and a medical imaging clinic.


Across from Century Park, Heritage Village is the first among a row of commercial hubs that stretches along 23rd Ave NW. This commercial row includes Heritage Square, Heritage Links and Heritage Lane. Within these complexes of convenience are a huge variety of restaurants including Boston Pizza, Bogani Café, Good Buddy Chinese, and MacDonald’s, Pipers Pub & Pizza, Good Taste Chinese Szechuan Cuisine, Panago Pizza, Tutti Fruiti Breakfast & Lunch, Dream Tea House, Subway, Little Caesars Pizza, Seasons Hot, Subway, Taiwan Bubble Tea, Panda Hut Express, Tokyo Express, and Pizza 73. Following 111 St NW, and then east along 23rd Ave NW will take residents of Steinhauer to South Edmonton Common, one of the largest open-air retail complexes of shopping, dining, and entertainment in North America.

In the centre of the community is Steinhauer Park; a huge sports field, hockey rink, and playground outside Steinhauer School- a perfect place for the kids to enjoy year-round.


Steinhauer is a just a short drive from Whitemud Creek Ravine, where residents will find several serene nature trails for hiking, biking, or just walking the dog. MacTaggart Sanctuary Trail Loop is a large and unspoiled nature trail winding along the centre of Whitemud Creek Ravine, a perfect spot for animal and bird watching!


In less than ten minutes, residents can drive west along 23rd Ave NW from the neighbourhood of Steinhauer and reach Terwillegar Recreation Centre. This brand new facility has several ice-rinks, an enormous workout area, a large swimming centre, and several fast-food restaurants.

Transportation


Calgary Trail South borders Steinhauer to the east, 111 St NW border the neighbourhood to the west, and both will take residents to either Anthony Henday or Whitemud Drive.


Most residents of Steinhauer will find that Century Park LRT and Transit Centre is within walking distance of their front door! There are also very established and efficient bus routs in the area that can bring residents of Sweet Grass to the transit centre.
