Perfectly located bordering 111 Street to the West, 23rd Avenue to the South, East by Calgary Trail & Gateway Blvd and just North of 29 Ave to the North. There are many amenities and fantastic schools within a short commute, and public transit is well established including LRT making it a highly sought after location for many people. Ermineskin is so named after Chief Ermineskin of Hobbema.

About This Community

 

The community of Ermineskin was named for Chief Ermineskin of Hobbema and is set apart in its accessibility to transportation, shopping, restaurants and other amenities. Within the community borders to the west is Century Park, all the commercial hot spots of 23rd Avenue to its south, and right along the border to its east is Calgary Trail South. While some homes in the area date their development back to 1960 or earlier, the majority of homes was built thereafter and are most commonly rented apartments, and apartment-style condominiums.

Restaurants/Shops/Boutiques

 

The western section of Ermineskin is made up almost entirely of Century Park. Not only is this the location of the Century Park LRT and Transit Station and the Park and Ride, but also a commercial area where one can access restaurants like Brewsters, Starbucks, Spring Roll Kitchen, and Bistecca Italian Steakhouse & Winebar. There is also a Liquor Depot, TD Canada Trust, Rexall, Century Park Dental, Safeway, Spa Lady, and a medical imaging clinic.

 

Across from Century Park, Heritage Village is the first among a row of commercial hubs on the other side of 23rd Ave NW from Ermineskin. This commercial row includes Heritage Square, Heritage Links and Heritage Lane. Within these complexes of convenience are a huge variety of restaurants including Boston Pizza, Bogani Café, Good Buddy Chinese, and MacDonald’s, Pipers Pub & Pizza, Good Taste Chinese Szechuan Cuisine, Panago Pizza, Tutti Fruiti Breakfast & Lunch, Dream Tea House, Subway, Little Caesars Pizza, Seasons Hot, Subway, Taiwan Bubble Tea, Panda Hut Express, Tokyo Express, and Pizza 73. With so many options, residents of Ermineskin don’t have to look far to find something suitable for either on-the-go or eat-in dining experiences. Running through the community of Ermineskin is 29A Ave NW which turns into Saddleback Road on the other side of 111 St NW, and leads to the commercial complex of Blue Quill where residents will find amenities including a Domo Gas Station, a 7-Eleven, Blue Quill Laundromat and Tailors, Blue Quill Montessori Day Care, Blue Quill Pharmacy, Reading Town, Hair Artitude Salon & Esthetics, and South Edmonton Audiology. For local dining, Blue Quill provides the area with a Royal Pizza, Blue Quill Bar & Grill, Ayesha’s Kitchen, Basha Donair & Shawarma, and Blue Quill Chinese food.

 

Taking 23rd Ave NW west will take residents of Ermineskin straight to Yellowbird Centre, a little corner of restaurants and amenities such as: Sicilian Pasta Kitchen, Vinny’s Bar, Pizza Hut, HairOpolis, Sham-Pooches, Kunitz Shoes, Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, Taps For Effect Games, and Kumon Math & Reading Centre, just to name a few.

 

Following 23rd Ave in the opposite direction will take residents of Greenfield to both Calgary Trail South, a huge corridor of shopping and restaurants that stretches all the way to Whyte Avenue (82nd Ave NW), as well as South Edmonton Common, one of the largest open-air retail complexes of shopping, dining, and entertainment in North America.

Recreation/Community League/Services

 

Ermineskin is a just a short drive from Whitemud Creek Ravine, where residents will find several serene nature trails for hiking, biking, or just walking the dog. MacTaggart Sanctuary Trail Loop is a large and unspoiled nature trail winding along the centre of Whitemud Creek Ravine, a perfect spot for animal and bird watching!

 

In the centre of the community is Ermineskin Park; a spacious sports field and playground, with lovely walking trails stretching along its centre.

 

In less than ten minutes, residents can drive west along 23rd Ave NW from the neighbourhood of Ermineskin and reach Terwillegar Recreation Centre. This brand new facility has several ice-rinks, an enormous workout area, a large swimming centre, and several fast-food restaurants.

Transportation

 

Calgary Trail South and 111 St NW border the neighbourhood of Ermineskin to the east and west, and both can take residents to either Anthony Henday or Whitemud Drive. The southern side of Ermineskin is bordered by 23rd Ave NW.

 

Most residents of Ermineskin will find that Century Park LRT and Transit Centre is within walking distance of their front door! There are also very established and efficient bus routs in the area that can bring residents of Erminskin to the transit centre.
