About This Community


Just a five-minute drive from Century Park LRT and Transit Centre in one direction and Southgate Shopping Centre in the other, is the neighbourhood of Greenfield, named after the former Premier of Alberta Herbert Greenfield (1921 to 1925). Some residents also refer to the neighbourhood as Petrolia. The majority of the neighbourhood was built between 1960 and 1980 and has a good range of housing options, as well as three schools in the neighbourhood.

On the northern border of the community of Greenfield is the Petrolia Shopping Centre, with a large No Frills, the Petrolia Liquor Store, Mini Mart, and the Petrolia Mall, which houses the ABC Child Development Centre Day Care & After School Care, and a Good Stock- one of the city’s most affordable and delicious vegan restaurants!


Just a few minutes drive south along 111 St NW from Greenfield is Century Park. Not only is this the location of the Century Park LRT and Transit Station and the Park and Ride, but also a commercial area with restaurants like Brewsters, Starbucks, Spring Roll Kitchen, and Bistecca Italian Steakhouse & Winebar. There is also a Liquor Depot, TD Canada Trust, Rexall, Century Park Dental, Safeway, Spa Lady, and a medical imaging clinic.


Across from Century Park, Heritage Village is the first among a row of commercial hubs along 23rd Ave NW that includes Heritage Square, Heritage Links and Heritage Lane. The bordering road of 34th Ave NW will take residents of Greenfield to the intersection of Calgary Trail South, a huge corridor of shopping and restaurants that stretches through the heart of South Edmonton from South Edmonton Common, all the way to Whyte Avenue (82nd Ave NW).

Recreation/Community League/Services

Greenfield is a just a short drive from Whitemud Creek Ravine, where residents will find several serene nature trails for hiking, biking, or just walking the dog. MacTaggart Sanctuary Trail Loop is a large and unspoiled nature trail winding along the centre of Whitemud Creek Ravine, a perfect spot for animal and bird watching!


On the northern border of the community is Greenfield Park, a large sports field and playground with a small splash park for summer fun, tucked in behind St. Stanislaus Elementary School, several churches and the Greenfield Community League.

Transportation 

Greenfield is bordered to the east by 111 St NW, which will take residents to either Anthony Henday or Whitemud Drive. Whitemud Drive can also be accessed from 119 St NW, which borders the western edge of the community.


The neighbourhood of Greenfield is also a very short distance to Century Park LRT and Transit Centre. Residents can take advantage of the transit centre’s Park & Ride. There are also very established and efficient bus routs in the area that can bring residents of Sweet Grass to the transit centre.
