Ambleside is a beautiful and diverse community in Southwest Edmonton. Although mainly residential, property type also includes office, commercial and entertainment space. The residential community is made of of everything from modern apartment style condominiums to large single family homes with walk-out basements backing a community pond and everything in between. The community has vast walking trails that span the entire area and lead you to various parks and ponds.

Just along the northern point of the community of Ambleside, residents have walk-able access to Currents of Windermere, a huge shopping district offering a variety of big chain stores such as Wal-Mart, London Drugs, Canadian Tire, Cabela’s, Home Depot, Wine and Beyond, Winners and HomeSense to name just a few. It also contains many amenities like massage, dental and doctor’s offices, medical imaging, hair and nail salons, banking, as well as a conveniently located Safeway. For a night-out, Currents of Windermere gives the surrounding communities prime access to Cineplex Odeon Windermere Cinemas and VIP where you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while watching the latest blockbuster in spacious seating, along with many dining options such as, Brown’s Socialhouse, Chilli’s Texas Grill, Boston Pizza, Montana’s Cookhouse, Red Robins, and (soon-to-come) Milestones and The Keg. For quick dining there is a large variety of take-out, drive-through, and dine-in options, including but not limited to: MacDonalds, Tim Hortons, Quiznos, Starbucks, Coras, and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Located on the opposite side of Terwillegar Drive (170th Street SW) Ambleside residents are just a stone’s throw from Windermere Crossing. This smaller shopping hub includes a wonderfully located Superstore, a tailors, a nail salon, Starbucks, a liquor store, several banks, as well as dining options like: Teriyaki Corner, Subway, Chopped Leaf, Dairy Queen, Panago Pizza, and State and Main. This is another commercial centre within the community that is continuing to grow, with new businesses being added often.

Ambleside has just recently added a small commercial centre of its own right along its bordering Ellerslie Road. This commercial spot is just developing, but it has already provided the community with a Circle K convenient store, Esso Gas Station, Mary Brown’s, and Ambleside Dental. 

Recreation/Community League/Services

Ambleside has a large trail system that winds its way around several ponds, and provides access to a large playground and field. Just a five minute drive down Terwillegar Drive (170th Street SW), residents of Ambleside will have easy access to Terwillegar Recreation Centre, which has several ice-rinks, an enormous workout facility, a large swimming centre, and several fast-food restaurants.

Just a few minutes drive down Ellerslie road, just southeast of the neighbourhood, the conveniently located Jagar Ridge Golf Club is nestled in the serene rolling hills of the Whitemud Creek Valley. It is both a public and private course.

Ambelside is under the umbrella of Greater Windermere Community League that also includes: Windermere, Langdale, Glen Ridding, West Pointe, Keswick, and Westpoint Estates. The community league hosts many events and activities in the area.

Transportation

This small subdivision is, despite being tucked along Edmonton’s southwestern most location, it actually has excellent access to some of the city’s most efficient roadways and bus routes. With the Anthony Henday to its north, Terwillegar Drive (170th Street SW) along its west, and Ellerslie Road to its south, commuting can be a breeze. Several major bus routes take Ambleside commuters to the nearby Leger Transit Centre, located just steps from Terwillegar Recreation Centre.
