There are actually many reasons why someone would want to live in the community of Windermere, but I’m going to give a quick list of 5 of the top reasons to get you started! Please keep in mind they are not in any order ;)
1) Do you like golfing? If you do, it is a fantastic reason to move to Windermere. There are two courses in the neighbourhood, and one just outside. They are beautiful courses along the river. You have Windermere Golf & Country Club (membership), River Ridge Golf & Country Club, and just a minute outside the community of Windermere is Jagare Ridge Golf Club.
2) Shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Yep, they are all in this community! Currents of Windermere is a local commercial hub with all the amenities you could need. You have all your major big box stores like Home Depot, Cabela’s, Walmart, London Drugs, Wine and Beyond, Canadian Tire. You also have a variety of restaurants that include the fast food options, as well as sit-in restaurants like Boston Pizza, Chili’s, Cora’s, Montana’s and Brown’s Social House just to name a few! And not to mention the community’s very own Cineplex Odeon VIP Theatre where you can sit in a spacious seat with a glass of wine and an appetizer while you watch the latest blockbuster. And just across 170 Street from the Currents of Windermere is another shopping area with even more restaurants, amenities, and a Superstore!
3) A beautiful serene location. The community is chalk-full of picturesque walking paths that lead to many different parks and pond areas throughout the community. It is very enjoyable for families, but especially the avid walkers, joggers, and bikers. As the community rest along the North Saskatchewan River, you get access to some of our cities most attractive scenery.
4) Homes to fit almost any budget! Many people are under the impression that only high-end homes are in the community of Windermere. Although, it is true that there are some truly spectacular homes in the community worth well over 1 million (and even some jaw-droppers worth over 3 million), there are also areas of the community with more entry-level homes, like duplexes, apartment-style and even row-style condominiums. Windermere is a very diverse community with options for almost anyone in any budget or stage of life.
5) Finally, the schools. Windermere has 2 brand new schools, both K-9 that were both open as of September of 2016.
